Bidengate: 69% see a serious scandal, 63% payola

.

New congressional reports that the financial affair embroiling Hunter Biden might reach deeper into the first family, even the president, have pushed a majority of voters to believe that the Bidens likely participated in a pay-for-play scandal.

In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, voters of all political stripes expressed a belief that the Hunter Biden affair is much bigger than just the first son and that it is likely President Joe Biden traded influence when he was vice president for money.

In data shared with Secrets, Rasmussen’s survey addressed three angles to the reports that Biden family members received overseas financial support, including from China, and that some sort of bribery was at play.

First, 69% said that reports of foreign influence peddling targeting Biden and his family are a serious scandal. That includes 49% of Democrats, 72% of independent voters, and 88% of Republicans.

Another question asked about congressional reports that Biden profited off foreign policy decisions in a “pay-for-play” scheme when he was former President Barack Obama’s vice president. Some 63% called that likely, including 42% of Democrats, 65% of independents, and 85% of likely Republican voters.

And Rasmussen asked if voters agree or disagree that the Hunter Biden financial scandal “is about the entire Biden family, including the president.” Some 66% agreed that it is, including 43% of Democrats.

The survey was done after reports about alleged bribes to the Biden family came out last week and before yesterday’s blockbuster GOP claims of payments from China to the family.

The president and his team have laughed off the charges, though Hunter Biden is bracing to be indicted on related charges.
