Marly Rivera accused of calling other reporters ‘white b—h’, ‘fake Hispanic’ in past incidents

Previous allegations of aggressive interactions with fellow reporters have emerged against Marly Rivera, who was fired Tuesday by ESPN for calling a rival a “f–king c–t” over a dispute involving an Aaron Judge interview.

The Post’s Andrew Marchand first reported that Rivera was terminated after an interaction with freelance reporter Ivón Gaete, in which Rivera believed she had an exclusive scheduled with the Yankees slugger, and, with her requests for Gaete to honor her time disregarded, uttered, “What a f–king c–t.”

The Washington Post uncovered previous fractious exchanges Rivera is accused of having with other journalists.

Two people told the outlet that Rivera, upset that a reporter was trying to take a photo of Hispanic players she was also photographing, called the reporter a “white b—h.”

In a separate incident, Rivera allegedly called another reporter, who is Latino, a “fake Hispanic.”

“There were extenuating circumstances, but that is not an excuse,” Rivera told the Washington Post about those incidents. “I believe these are mischaracterizations of who I am. Disagreements between media members are part of the nature of our business and happen on a regular basis, yet I am being singled out.”

Rivera did not immediately respond to a request from The Post for comment on these incidents.

However, she fully accepted responsibility in a statement to The Post’s Andrew Marchand on Wednesday regarding her interaction with Gaete.

Gaete, the freelance reporter that Rivera appeared to call a “f–king c–t,” is married to MLB communications executive John Blundell.

In video of the incident published by TMZ, Rivera could be seen telling Gaete in Spanish that she was bothering Judge, who was signing autographs for a group of kids.

After the exchange in Spanish, Rivera said, “Oh, now you speak English.”

When Gaete continued to not step away from Judge, “What a f–king c–t,” before ultimately telling Gaete, “I wasn’t talking about you.”

Rivera has deactivated her social media accounts in wake of the incident.
