Nina Jankowicz, who oversaw the now-defunct Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board, registered this month as a foreign agent, records show.
Registration documents dated Nov. 18 show that Jankowicz is now working for the Centre for Information Resilience, a non-profit based in the United Kingdom focused on “countering disinformation, exposing human rights abuses, and combating online behavior harmful to women and minorities,” according to its website.

In the documents, reviewed by the Washington Examiner over the weekend, Jankowicz wrote that she “supervises research, executes business strategy, oversees the establishment of CIR’s research, communicates with the media, and briefs individuals and officials on CIR’s research.”
Jankowicz began her work with CIR in September of this year with the launch of the Hypatia Project, which aims to combat “gendered abuse and discrimination.”
DHS launched the controversial disinformation board in April and appointed Jankowicz to serve as its first executive director. Within weeks, the board was put on pause and Jankowicz tendered her resignation amid mounting public pressure.
Critics dug up embarrassing details from the disinformation expert’s past, including clips of music she performed with her Harry Potter-themed band and tweets in which she herself spread misinformation.

Even after her resignation, Jankowicz dismissed criticisms about the board becoming a Ministry of Truth in the vein of 1984 that would determine what was and wasn’t true. She also argued that the board itself had become a victim of disinformation.
Her belief in the need for the governance board was not shared by DHS, which opted to shutter the panel over the summer after an advisory council suggested doing so.
