Stacey Abrams’s misinformation on sheriffs who ‘want to take black people off the street’

.

Stacey Abrams continues to fear-monger and race-bait in her gubernatorial campaign in Georgia. After spending months as an election denier, then spreading misinformation about Georgia’s new voting laws, the Democratic nominee is now claiming that Georgia sheriffs want to “take black people off the streets.” She made the inflammatory claim during her debate with Gov. Brian Kemp Sunday night after he announced the law enforcement groups that endorsed his candidacy.

THE FADING STAR POWER OF STACEY ABRAMS

“As I pointed out before, I am not a member of the good ol’ boys club. So no, I don’t have 107 sheriffs who want to be able to take black people off the streets, who want to be able to go without accountability,” Abrams said. “I don’t believe every sheriff wants that, but I do know that we need a governor who believes in both defending law enforcement but also defending the people of Georgia.”

This type of response is typical of Abrams. Abrams tries to race-bait and spread misinformation that, if one listened to her and ignored reality, they would believe that black people were always under attack in the United States in 2022. Nothing could be further from the truth, but that didn’t stop Abrams from continuing her misinformation.

“My other brother should never be pulled over for driving while black, and yet in this Georgia, he is,” Abrams stated without any proof or examples. She said she is running for governor because the state needs someone who will support police officers but also hold “law enforcement accountable.”

Currently, polls show Kemp with a 7-point lead against Abrams. Given her statements, it’s not hard to see why. Abrams is a microcosm of the entire Democratic Party at this point. They have no solutions, only criticisms and complaints, many of which are invalid.

There aren’t 107 sheriffs in Georgia who want to take black people off the streets. Abrams knows this, but creating racial animosity is vital to her political platform. She talked about accountability in the debate and should start with herself and her role in spreading misinformation and creating fear.
