Morning Joe panel shocked after PA Trump voters don’t buy MSNBC Jan. 6 account

.

MSNBC’s Morning Joe was shocked by the answers of Pennsylvania voters concerning the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Host Joe Scarborough even described the sentiments as “disturbing to a lot of people” during the show’s Monday broadcast.

MSNBC’s Elise Jordan conducted the focus group of Pittsburgh-area citizens who previously voted for former President Donald Trump.

When she asked the group about Jan. 6, they cited the riots across the country in response to the death of George Floyd. According to one member, “it looked a lot like antifa’s actions to me.”

“On a much smaller scale, it looked the same as the Black Lives Matter riots,” one said.

“It was an actual fiery but mostly peaceful protest,” added another, poking fun at a 2020 CNN chyron that read as such.

“Kenosha burned, Waukesha burned,” someone else began.

The group was equipped with explanations when Jordan asked more questions about the Capitol riot. Some believe antifa infiltrated the riots, while others said the U.S. Capitol Police were ushering people into restricted areas.

They further claimed that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) should have prioritized security for the grounds on that day.

“I really don’t know where to start here,” said a shocked Scarborough. “They’ve been lied to.”

Later, another clip was shown in which Jordan asked the group who they would support in a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary.

Many said they would choose Trump again, but several admitted they would choose Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) over him. DeSantis, they explained, has many of the same virtues they see in Trump.

David French, the senior editor of the Dispatch, called the group of voters “mainstream MAGA,” noting that while they aren’t quite “ultra-MAGA,” they are still conspiracy theorists.

Jordan further told the hosts that she is “upset and concerned for the future of American democracy” because the group is skeptical of election integrity across the country.

Notably, none of the group members raised their hands to say the election of 2020 was “free and fair.”
